Kindergarten

In our Kindergarten program we focus on the total child.  Our objectives are to help each child grow spiritually, academically physically, emotionally, and socially.  We know that children need to feel good about themselves in order to achieve their best.  Further, we know that children all grow at their own rates.  With this in mind, we provide opportunities for each child to be successful.

Kindergarten is a time for discovery.  It is the time that children should begin their love for learning.  They learn how to read, how to write, and with the help of manipulatives learn math concepts and skills.  They participate in small groups in learning centers and learn how to work in a group, as well as independently.  Throughout their day, they create, express themselves through the arts, dramatize, and explore.  Technology is incorporated in their learning environment through lessons and the use of tools such as the iPad.

One of our objectives is to include parental involvement within our curriculum, whether it occurs at home or at school.  This we do because we believe that parents are their children’s primary educators.  When teachers and parents become partners in education, children will grow to their fullest potential.

1st & 2nd Grades

In our primary program (Grades 1-2), we focus on the total child.  We hold high expectations for our students spiritually, academically, and socially.  We know that children need to feel good about themselves in order to achieve their best.  With that in mind, we try to provide opportunities for each of them to be successful.

Our curriculum is based on Christian values, which are integrated throughout all curriculum areas. We provide a rich literature-based Language Arts program; including phonics, spelling, reading and grammar (applied to various forms of writing). Our thematic Social Studies and Science units allow the students to explore, collaborate, and engage in meaningful learning. We build a solid foundation in math through the use of math manipulatives, daily practice of math facts, problem solving and mental math.

Within each grade level, we collaborate in curriculum planning and assessment. Our objective is to work together as a team-student, parent and teacher, with the understanding that parents are their child’s primary educators. With this cooperative effort, we hope to instill positive character values, which will sustain each child throughout their lifetime.
